Raven
is the newest Sundeer 64 in the series of ten built by TPI. Launched in 1995, her
first owner
sailed her from Rhode Island to Seattle that same year. We bought her in 1998
and the following year cruised to Alaska along the Inside Passage. Since then,
we have sailed her some 12,000
miles from Seattle to Mexico, then across the South Pacific to New Zealand,
cruising the Marquesas, Tuamotus, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Rarotonga, Niue, and Tonga
along the way. After a
season in Fiji waters, she is now docked in Auckland, ready for the next family
wishing to make bluewater passages quickly and in comfort.
Most people interested in Raven will have
learned about Sundeers from Steve and Linda Dashew's many publications,
especially their Offshore Cruising Encyclopedia. That's how we discovered
the Dashews' bluewater cruising ideas, and we are pleased to confirm that, after
several years' cruising aboard Raven, we still love the Sundeer concept for
shorthanded passagemaking. Sadly, family health reasons force us to end our
cruising days ― at least temporarily ― and to sell our beloved Raven.
Raven has taken us across the latitudes, from 60 North
to 38 South, from the ice to the palm trees. Our website,
www.ravencruise.com has our cruise logs and hundreds of photos. Check it
out.
